Of course I have to choices (A)keep J_ tables untouched and use my other table linked to _users (B) add some extra columns to use for my own App (and that is what I've done so far). All I need is to validate user against Joomla _users table, then I can use slightly modified _users table and use extra fields I create to navigate through my App. I do notr plan to create new J_ components. All I need is keep MD5 or SHA1 in Joomla site. I was tols that noe J uses some new type of encryption but I've never researched this to the core. If I can use JOOMLA SHA1 encryption I will be happy. If you want to use MD5 in your "app" but leave J! untouched with its SHA1 approach the you'll either have to rewrite your "app" or rewrite Joomla. You'll have to work out how to use the technique yourself. A good example of bridging software is when people have a phpBB forum and where their end users login to the J! site but then also have additional rights in the forum another example is bridging between J! and MediaWiki. You'll need to bridge J! to your "app" somehow. If your "app" has its own user account records, that's where things get complicated. JomSocial, Community Builder, Kunena) so you could use these as ideas to get you started. There are a few examples where developers have built their own user registration procedures (e.g. Therefore, you'll need to develop a new J! component with its own authentication plugins as far as the J! side of things are concerned. As well as doing that, you need to synchronise changes made whenever and from wherever your users make those changes. Then your app doesn't have to need anything from the J! _users table. What you might be able to do is to write your own new account creation procedure that (a) registers a new J! user account and (b) creates some record of this account in your "app". My expectation was to see the decrypted data values under the column Secret. It doesn't matter how many different ways you "rephrase" your question, at "step 2" of your procedure where you're trying to obtain the user password from the database, the only thing you'll get is whatever is stored as a hash. The retool table has secret_word and Secret among other columns. Now, I am testing a new retool app generated from the ‘shopping’ database. The above two SQL statements are executed using myPhpAdmin. Inserting a new row is done using this SQL statement. The decrypted data is listed under a new column with the name ‘Secret’. SELECT *, AES_DECRYPT(secret_word, 'my secret key') AS Secret FROM 'shopping' The encrypted column is shown as ascii characters and the decrypted data is shown in a new column. Reading data is accomplished using this SQL statement. For the sake of this discussion we will focus on the ‘secret_word’ column. There will be another one or two columns with encrypted data. List option of the app should decrypt the column before displaying the dataĪdd new data option of the app should encrypt the data Now I want to generate an app using this database. I have tested inserting a new row with encrypted data and reading it back using phpMyAdmin. A table in the database has a column where data is encrypted (data at rest). I am implementing a solution using MySQL as the backend database.
